The puzzles within the games are quite challenging. Many inexperienced players have enjoyed our games but often take more time and use more hints than more seasoned puzzle-solvers. Inexperienced players will also benefit from working in a group, since different players will find different puzzles easier. Our games have no time limit and come with an online hint system so that players of all experience levels can calibrate the game for themselves.
We recommend ages 14 and older. While the material is appropriate for younger players, the puzzles are quite challenging. That said, players younger than 14 have also enjoyed playing our games, typically in a group that includes older players.
We recommend groups of 1-6 people, though groups larger than 6 have enjoyed playing as well! A larger group just means players will need to share more of the puzzles.
Like most escape rooms or puzzle adventures, the games are fun when you don't know how to solve the puzzles, so they are each typically played only once per person.
However, many players keep the materials in good condition (since none of the puzzles require destroying materials to solve them) to pass their games along to friends or family members afterwards.
Yes, you will need Internet access to view the Online Companion Guide to get hints, check answers, and progress the story. You may also use the Internet to help solve several of the puzzles.

Very fun game! We love playing these types of games and usually get the Hunt a killer games and play with the family over teams and spread it out for weeks. We wanted to try something new and different and played this at home in person with the kids ! It was hard! Took us way longer than the couple hours! __ We broke it up over 2 weekends and I’d say it took a combined total of 10 hrs! That’s with breaks and a dinner pause included. Can’t wait to open the next one! Synapse!

Fantastic puzzle! We purchased it for our 13 year old’s birthday and he’s loving it. We appreciate that it’s in two parts so you can take a break. Well thought out puzzles that had us scratching our heads but having fun. Super nice having the computer interface to help when needed. Will definitely purchase others from this brand.

This was so much fun! It took us a couple of days to finish which just prolonged the fun in my opinion. My family loves mysteries and this was a great way for us to get off screens and enjoy solving thought provoking puzzles with eachother. I think this may be the best puzzling pursuit yet! It was challenging, but logical enough that for the first time we didn’t feel like we needed any hints! We walked away and came back later when we were stumped. Which was very impressive considering there was less obvious instruction that there is for some of the other puzzles. I highly recommend it despite making me even more uneasy about AI’s rapid growth.

Husband and I LOVED this! We are always intrigued with WWII and when we finished we loved the little bits of actual history twisted into this! It was so fun and the hints were helpful when we were really stuck on some parts.

Mind. Blown. I’ve played every single offering by Puzzling Pursuits and Synapse is probably my favorite. I try not to use the hint system too much so it did take me a bit longer than usual, but overall this experience was 10/10! No spoilers, but I felt the ending was very timely with our current shared life experience…let’s just leave it at that. Can. Not. Wait for their next offering(s) - sooner rather than later please.
An additional note: their customer service is second to none, which makes a huge difference in customer retention and brand loyalty.

My son (44 years old) and I had a fun 3 hours working on Part One. It has a "just right" level of complexity and help via the clues. We found the clues were affirming and confirming we were on the right path to (eventually) solving it.

The only negative thing to mention is the blue and red glossy material was tiresome on the eyes.

Fun puzzles, but the story ending was... not as satisfying as other boxes, such as Fifth Colum (best hands down, please add another to this series!!), Blackbrim trio, and La familia trio. The puzzles were more just straightforward puzzles, with the narrative being the weaker point of this box. Being challenged to solve puzzles in the narrative felt a bit... obvious.

It would have been helpful to have a starting point guide to show you where to begin searching rather than an assortment of materials. It was fun and challenging once you figure out how the clues correspond to the answer for the next challenge to reveal a smarter route to tackle.

I bought this because our two oldest came home from college and they guys live World War II and the girls love to solve puzzles. It was awesome. For a total of five hours we worked together frequently switching partners and seeing the strengths that each of us possess that allowed us to solve the puzzle. Best family time ever.

Would be nice if the newspapers were real newspaper and ink. The crossword puzzle and find the difference in pictures is kind of cheesy. I expected a more realistic kind of of experience. Overall I and my 12 year old daughter like it.

Well designed, challenging but not impossible, with a nice variety of puzzles so there is something for every type of thinker. The structure is great too, easy to pick up and put down when you need a break and flexible for different game time interests. Makes a unique and memorable gift that can be shared through game play or simply by passing on after finishing. One of the best styles of gifting, in my opinion! Highly recommended! I gave this game as a Christmas present to my 17 year old grandson. He immediately sat down and began using it with his sister. We started with The Fifth Column because we love WWII history. We call drought something to each puzzle and we're proud not only need a few hints. Look forward to trying another

I have purchased a few other games from other companies and was not impressed. I did a little research and thought I would give this one last shot. I purchased the Fifth Column. I knew the story would at least grab my husband's attention. We are still on part 1, but we are already happy! The game is put together really well. You have to work to get the answers, and things make sense. We will definitely be purchasing another one from them!!

The Fifth Column is absolutely a fun way to spend a couple of hours with friends. If you're looking for some great diversion and togetherness, this will get you going. You've got bad guys who have managed to infiltrate New York City, and it's your job to stop them from doing something catastrophic. You've got to work together to figure out to stop them.

My group of friends really enjoyed Cryptid. We have played quite a lot of mystery games from other companies, and decided to give Puzzling Pursuits a try. It was very challenging, but also really fun. We will definitely purchase another game from this company.

It was a great game, deeply thought out. The puzzles had multiple layers to them, and we regularly had to return to items we thought we were done with. Our main feedback that, even as puzzle connoisseurs, the puzzles were a bit too hard without more direction. Mostly, we just wished that there were a couple more clues scattered throughout the cases to guide us, so we wouldn't have to refer to the clue guide so often.

Several of the puzzles were quite challenging, but none unfairly so. I looked up a couple hints when stuck at the 95% mark for a couple puzzles, and of course I was overlooking something quite logical. That's exactly what you want out of a puzzle game: it makes you work for it but it's never out of reach, except by your own misplaced tunnel vision.
And the variety of puzzles is quite commendable! The designers clearly put a great deal of care into this game.

This was a lot of fun! I originally thought my husband and I would try it out during date night, but we opened it up with 4 of our adult kids over Christmas break. It took every single one of us to work together to figure out the puzzles. They were challenging and we did refer to the hints a few times! We felt part one and part two should be played on different days and there wasn't a clear direction for part 2. However, we loved it overall and will be purchasing more!
