We thought the story was good and the puzzles were tricky but for the most part solvable without hints. It was very fun and we’re looking forward to playing part 2.
Judith B.
My sister and I played the game over a couple of nights. We live far apart so we both bought the game and played together over Discord. It was a blast and we bought the second part as soon as we finished part 1.
Chris
3 parts to this game ,get all 3 , the fun and mystery keeps going.
Laura J.
Enjoyable…made our minds work!!
Yenni A.
Such a great experience! Can’t wait for next month’s game night to play Raeger’s Return!!
Joshua D.
Awesome experience. Some of the clues were very, very vague and difficult to figure out what they were after. That said, solving the puzzles was very satisfying, especially given how wonderful the art and theme is of everything that accompanies them. Will definitely be purchasing the next set.
Tammy C.
What an amazing experience! We have done a ton of escape games, including in-person, virtual, and "board" games. We love them all, but this one takes the absolute cake. The puzzles are deep, well-designed, and appropriately difficult. My only regret is that it has no replay value. We did purchase the sequel and have since learned that it's a trilogy, so bring it on!
Bruce L.
Did it as a family ... great couple of evenings
Jayde T.
We found getting 'started' a little unclear. Once we got into it though we had a tonne of fun. It took us around 5 hours to complete. Definitely recommend if you love games. Our family always get together during holidays and someone brings a new game to play. We'll d9ne puzzling pursuits!
Katherine B.
The puzzles are HARD so the clues/solutions come in handy. I love the Victorian theme and look. Very fun!
Samuel A.
The game was awesome. A challenging but not impossible puzzle to solve. The storyline was great and all the props were first-rate. Loved it so much that we bought the other two in this series and will be adding other sets down the road,
Michelle T.
Once we caught on to the clues we enjoyed every minute. There was more internet searching than we expected but with a group of 3 we used each others strengths to solve.
Bryan B.
Fantastic game! Loved it.
Even better customer service. Highly recommend puzzlingpursuits
Aimee S.
My mom and I are puzzle heads. This was so much fun! We liked the physical materials very much. It was hard! We're so stubborn we spent 2 days refusing to check answers or get hints. Online searches helped!
Gerhardt Y.
It is a really fun experience! The puzzle are enjoyable.
Mark G.
We did this as a family. 2 parents and 4 kids from 9th grade down to Kindergarten. Even the kids got into the story and were audibly amazed when discovered some of the twists together. I will be buying part 2 and 3 as well to continue the journey!
The online companion is very helpful and we had to use it many times, but only as a last resort!
Thank you for providing a fun experience!
Annie
Great experience for date night! The puzzles were clever and challenging, but not frustrating. I can’t wait to do another!
Erin T.
This was SO much fun! Our family had an absolute blast playing it for Mother's Day and the hints were a huge help.
Christopher J.
My wife and I had so much fun playing this game! It was just the right amount of challenging. The hints were also a much needed rescue but did not give too much away which was nice. I will be buying the sequel and recommending this to my friends.
Barb
Puzzle-solving, Victorian AND spooky? I had to try it, and this game did not dissapoint. The unfolding clues were clever and challenging, the story was engaging, and playing through was delightful. The quality of the game materials was impressive and added to the experience. A bit like an escape room in my own house. On to the next one!
Jody B.
Nice and hard! Really gets the brain working. Lots of variety in the puzzles. Was missing one piece of inventory but was able to get it online through the app. Great that you can check as you go and get incremental clues. Was given this for my 50th and I did it alone over a few hours. Would definitely recommend.
Sharon E.
I’ve never done anything like this, so I did have to use some of the hints for some of the clues. I really thought I had the hang of it until Part II when I got to the Kitchen. I was completely lost on most of the amounts needed for the recipe! Even knowing the answers made no sense. So, I enjoyed the ones I could figure out, but frustrated with those that were too hard. I did the whole thing by myself, so I would definitely recommend having at least one partner.
Megan J.
Loved it! Was afraid the puzzles would be easy but they were fun and complex. My husband and I did it over the course of 2 date nights and it tok us 3 or 4 hours. Highly recommend
Brittni H.
It was so much fun. We had the whole family involved! We can't wait for the next one.
Carla M.
My husband and I absolutely LOVED playing this game. The difficulty was challenging enough to make us think and work together, but not too hard where it became frustrating. It helped to have the clues available online to help guide us in the right direction. We had such a great experience that we decided to buy the other two games in the trilogy. We now have a new favorite date night activity called “puzzle night” because of this. Great plot and puzzles!! Hopefully this company produces more. Highly recommend them to anyone!
Kelly H.
We loved it! Very entertaining!
Allene S.
So fun! Some of these puzzles were real head-scratchers, but we managed to make it through without any hints.
To the others who are curious; give it a go! Best of luck, Detectives!
Nick N.
Great fun with the family! Challenging puzzles and 4 hours of entertainment.
Michael M.
I played this game with my partner and parents and had a great time. It was so much fun for everyone to take their knowledge from personal experiences and unique puzzle solving skills to come together to piece together all the clues. All of the evidence is very well thought out and we cannot wait to continue the trilogy !
James B.
Great game. Hard but clever. Variety of puzzles and clues. I want the next one
Karen
This was a gift from my daughter who knows how I love a good mystery. I had so much fun doing this! I am alone so there was no game night but I had many game mornings with my coffee. Tomorrow ( or today if I cannot bear to wait) I will begin The next story when Reager returns. This was wonderful!!!!
Christine H.
An excellent experience! Not too hard, not too easy. Virtual guide/hints were spot on for helping without giving it away. Kept me intrigued the whole time. I especially loved the variety of the puzzles! Planning on coming back for more!
Elizabeth H.
I bought this for my brother and we really bonded over it, solving mysteries and cracking codes. Loved it!
Jody D.
Nice play time!! Challenging, yet it all made sense once I started figuring it out. Thanks. Haven't started the other two yet.
Christina W.
The puzzles were fun, challenging enough to need the extra clues at times, but also achievable with some determination and looking outside the box. Would try another one!
Kelly D.
It was a fun game night. The puzzles were challenging but not impossible to figure out. A bit more of an explanation of how to interact with the website, ie. entering your answer, checking hints, etc. would be nice.
Rhonda S.
We had a group of eight, 6 adults and to preteens. We worked as a group and had a blast! We did use a couple of the extra clues but most of it we were able to figure out on our own. We already have the next two puzzles ready to go and can’t wait to meet again!
Suzanne K.
I purchased Blackbrim 1876 for both of my daughters and their significant others for Christmas. They already had a game night and played it. I was told it was challenging, but so much fun that they will be purchasing the rest of the trilogy. Additionally, the customer service this company provides is phenomenal.
Kim o.
We solved this puzzle on a family vacation and it was a lot of fun, challenged us all and entertained us for hours!
Heidi B.
We opened this on Christmas Eve and completed all tasks in about 3 hours. It was fantastic. My 15 year old daughter and her 14 year old friend worked hard on completing the ciphers while the rest of us hunted clues. There were 6 of us playing. We loved it.
John W.
A lot of fun exploring. Thanks for Google, haha. Really enjoyed that we could work on it, then set it aside for a time, and come back to it.
Jane S.
6 of us finally coordinated our schedules and made this happen. It was super fun! Quality challenges and worth every penny.
Kevin B.
This was such a great experience. My wife and I had the best time. We love escape rooms so it was really fun to do this at home. The puzzles were very challenging and allowed us the opportunity to challenge our ability to work together. Great for couples therapy! This kept us mentally active in the evenings an offered a nice substitution for watching TV.
Jason J.
Pretty challenging! Had a great night with the wife and kids!
Evan T.
This was a Christmas gift for Evan. I texted him last night and asked for his review. He played the game with three friends, who all thought it was fun. He said that some of the puzzles were tricky to solve; it was not something that they could sail through. I'm happy that I bought it, seemed like a good gift for my son and I will probably buy him the other games in the series.
Marissa W.
Great game. Lots of fun
Danny T.
I bought the games as a Christmas gift for my wife. We played Blackbrim with our daughter and son in law. It was challenging and fun, we are looking forward to Reager's Return.
Shirley Y.
Part 1 was fun and took a few hours with just me and my boyfriend. Worked on Part 2 another day. It was more challenging but good fun! Very clever puzzles. Definitely interested in finishing out the series with the other two puzzles at some point. We regifted this puzzle to another couple we thought would enjoy.
MAUREEN N.
This was a Christmas gift for my daughters and my son in laws… I was told “they love it and it was cool…I bought the 1st n 2nd, they said the 2nd was challenging … I don’t know if they’ll be getting the 3rd or me, for them to finish..
JoAnne S.
It was a fun experience. Some parts were pretty challenging. We appreciated having clues when we were under time restraints. It was a fun experience for 6 college grads.
Maria P.
We had a good time playing as a family but it was more difficult than expected. We had to use a lot of clues! We enjoyed it!!
Steve E.
We did this while we were in Boston visiting one of our children over the holidays. It was entertaining and we all looked forward to doing part 2 of the game. Everyone got up the next day and immediately wanted to complete part 2. It was a great experience and we are looking forward to the next 2 puzzles in this series.
Ileana H.
We played the game with the whole family and a couple of friends. It was a great collaborative effort and we had a lot of fun.
Joanne B.
We had 7 adults ranging in age from 27-67 working together to solve the puzzle on Christmas afternoon. It was a wonderful and fun way to spend the day together.
Jeffrey M.
Loved the game so much we bought the rest of the trilogy. A couple clues were WAY iff of our thinking, and the online clues were a godsend. I like that you can use them, or not, and they don't give away too much. Fun story, well written and very engaging. Looking forward to the next ones.
Julie B.
I played with my son, daughter-in-law, daughter and son-in-law at Christmas. We always love playing these types of games together!
Rogene L.
I gave this as a gift to my doughier who plays regularly with her friends. they all thought it was the best they ever played
Christina B.
We enjoyed it. We've played similar puzzle games, so we knew what we'd be looking for. Would have liked a little more puzzle type variety, but it was a fun and challenging game.
Per L.
I bought this as a gift and got rave reviews from my brother. His whole family loved it!
Caleb R.
Played with 4 people. We all brought unique skills to the table and each contributed to different parts of the puzzles! We had so much fun.
Louise P.
A beautifully and cleverly crafted game that was extremely fun to play. The companion website is a great way to check your progress and get hints without seeing any spoilers.
Deanna K.
What fun!!! My family bought this for me a year ago for Christmas! Our youngest is now almost 12, so I pulled it out over break for us to play. We worked on a clue or two at a time over the course of the week (on and off). The youngest got a little frustrated because she wanted to get straight to the answers so she bailed on the last few clues but the 18 year old stuck it out. Maybe she will be a bit more patient when we get the next one?!? I love spending the time with my family and seeing how each of us thinks differently about how to approach the clues (though 18 and I were often on the same wavelength when Dad was going down a different road). All of those paths helped us reach the end!
B E.
Spent an entire day and it frustrated and exhilarated us equally. Great game.
Rachel
Super fun! Challenging puzzles that weren’t too hard. Looking forward to the sequel.
Kate S.
Fun exciting challenging experience trying to decipher the puzzles.
I would play another.
raegar
Without clues and the internet would be impossible. Made some copies of stuff so that someone else could play, (spelling bee, napkin, floor pan), very challenging, engaging.
Aubrey D.
Great job that was super fun and creative! We should have a little celebratory video or something at the end tho lol. Or a letter where we can check the solution at the end with congratulations as long as it’s not easy to open accidentally. Either way it was good work and fun. Glad it wasn’t too easy!
Cheri D.
We played as four adults, ranging from 55-66 on New Years Day. We completed both Part I and Part II in about 5 hours altogether. We had a blast! Sometimes we worked together, and sometimes we divided and conquered. Thanks for having clues online. We tried not to need them, but we definitely appreciated them.
Kristin
Incredibly cool, and quite challenging. The design of this game is fantastic!
Peggy A.
Fun times! Little rough having figured out some of the solutions but not knowing where to take it next. Great having clues and solutions available for double checking and leading where to go next.
Susan D.
Variety of puzzles and well thought out.
Michael H.
The game was very challenging. Some of the puzzles we wouldn't have solved without the extra clues.
It definitely was a fun experience.
ALEKSANDRA W.
We did this on new Years Eve with my husband and his parents. It was great fun! It took us 5 hrs to solve and we loved every minute of it. Everyone was super into it!
Crystal B.
Mind boggling. Common sense is not very useful as you have to think outside the box. It was fun. Brought us together to work together. We did have to get hints often. The only criticism is that when we did have the answer it was a bit anti- climatic as we didn't know what to do with it. Maybe a little more prompts as to what to do next. There were times we weren't sure if we were to just move on or something else was to be done with the current puzzle. But it was fun. We have another so we will comment further
Paul S.
Challenging but not too difficult
Kristen M.
Wide range of difficulty in the puzzles. Some of the leaps were impossible without clues, so make sure you have internet access.
Levi M.
I got this for my wife for Christmas. We had a blast doing this. We had food, drinks, and eerie Victorian music playing while we did and it made for a immersive experience. Highly recommend this for couples nights.
Debra S.
The game is a Christmas gift so I can’t comment specifically on it yet but I can tell you that customer service has been excellent. My order was lost and the company replaced it quickly and very kindly. Thank you.
Sean J.
Great game for a family night! The game was put together very well!
April H.
This was such a fun little adventure. Did it as a stay-home date-night and it was a delight to work on the puzzles together.
Zack
What a great series of diverse and well-thought out puzzles! It took two of us four hours, possibly more, to figure everything out. We only used a couple of the hints total. We were pleasantly surprised at the variety of puzzle types throughout the adventure and are so pleased that we already have the sequel to dive into!
Megan P.
This was the best birthday present! My sister gave it to me and we waited until Thanksgiving in order to spend time and do it together. The puzzles were challenging but we were always able to get them without dipping into the extra clues. We loved that we were able to spread it out over a couple of days and it provided for two sessions of fun! Excellent present, excellent fun!
Skyler L.
We loved the variety of puzzles! Our word puzzle lovers, cipher crackers, world travelers and art aficionados all had their time to shine.
Elizabeth B.
Great game, and your hint system is fantastic!
Jennifer Y.
This was great - would use this company again
Wendy P.
Great mix of puzzle types and difficulty levels. Really fun for family game night
Cara T.
Loved Blackbrim: 1876! So many fun puzzles. Highly recommend for novice and experienced players.
Caity C.
Witty and challenging!
Nikita G.
As avid escape room players this was definitely one of the best at home options available. The puzzles had a nice story flow to them and the puzzles were challenging without being frustrating. The hint system provided was very beneficial at times, not unlike a game master. We look forward to playing the second box in this series.
Linda S.
It was the right amount of difficulty and a great story line. Easy to follow and understand. I loved the quality of the materials used.
Roger S.
Really enjoyed the cerebral experience. I took this to work and used it as a team building exercise. Critical thinking skills are important in our line of work and this fit the bill for bringing the team closer together and improving . Thanks a bunch!
DJG & RKG
Part One was the most difficult because we had no idea what we were doing. The clues became more creative but all relied heavily on word games - not that that’s bad. But it was a a pleasant change (aka relief) to play with numbers and paper folding. It definitely did not take 2-4hrs for us inexperienced game players of this genre. Looking forward to Reager’s Return.
Julia B.
This is was very fun and intellectually stimulating. We really appreciated it being in two parts so we could play it over to separate weekends. Definitely read the little guidebook before you start.
Jean
The kitchen was the worst! Thank you for clues - would have died in that room, for sure. Fun and provoking game.
