Lots of fun. A few of the puzzles were not what we expected, but they were still a lot of fun. A LOT of variety in puzzles, not just variations of the same one.

I was getting quite bored during this year of social distancing; there's only so much streaming TV, books and standard puzzles one can consume. Jenny Lawson, The Bloggess, enjoyed this game with her family and I was pleased to see one person could play it. My husband wasn't as interested, but I thought it was so much fun, even on my own. The clues were confounding, in a good way, and really made me think. I highly recommend BLACKBRIM: 1876 and look forward to more adventures.
Sarah E.
We played over two evenings during the weekend. Definitely needed the clues to get started. Challenging and fun!
Tammy M.
We loved it, once we got the hang of it. The game showed us that my fiancé and I have VERY different skill sets — but it worked out well for the various challenges. It was definitely a welcome change from Netflix!

I have done several in-person escape rooms and a couple boxed “escape room” games since covid hit. This was by far the most professional of what I’ve tried! The puzzles were complex and well thought out (we played the Blackbrim game). Everything was presented beautifully and you had the option to work on separate puzzles at the same time, which I love. The online clues were helpful without giving it away. I thought it was especially smart that you could check your answers online without spoiling the correct answer if you were wrong. I am eager to purchase the other option and I hope they make more in the future!

I've gotten a few different "mystery" games during the past year. This one was, by far, the most challenging. It took five adults about four hours (with the occasional hint) to complete. Well worth the money!
Morgan P.
So much fun! It was difficult but not to hard to solve! We had a lot of fun cracking all the codes!
Lisa G.
This was such a great game! I appreciated the number of puzzles in both parts and that some were more challenging than others. We completed Part 1 and saved Part 2 for the following weekend to make it last longer. I enjoyed the storyline but really enjoyed the different types of puzzles. They were unique and not repetitive, even between both parts. We had to use hints several times, mostly to make sure we were on the right track, but once because we couldn't figure out how to start a puzzle. I appreciated the hints being small enough to where you wouldn't be given the answer but have just enough of a clue to make progress. I look forward to buying the next box and hopefully there are more to come!
Marie Y.
We LOVED this box. It’s one the best we have ever played. We ordered the other one as soon as we finished!
Beth E.
We took Brimstone with us on a two family trip to a cabin in Tennessee. We had a lot of fun playing and solving. We ended up using one person to serve as our “clue master” so he could help and guide if needed. We solved it all within 3 hours!
Riley B.
The puzzle took longer than we anticipated, but we had so much fun! 10/10
Kara L.
We had a great time figuring out the puzzles together as a family! This was so well done and so much fun that we ordered it as a birthday gift for grandpa! Can’t wait for more puzzling pursuits!!
Richard W.
We ordered both puzzles after reading about them online. Our family loves escape rooms, Clue, and similar games, and were excited to try out your Puzzling Pursuits!
So far, we've tried Blackbrim 1976, and it did not disappoint. The puzzles are great, some of them harder than others, and we are thankful for the online hints that supplement the clues in the box. Overall, we enjoyed three evenings as a family to work through the entire Blackbrim puzzle. Night one was Part I, and we split Part II across nights two and three.
Our only critique? You need to make more so we have more puzzles to enjoy after we work through La Famiglia next. :)
Shari B.
I purchased the game to play with family over Christmas break. We all had a wonderful time looking up clues and working through puzzles. Bought the other story for family in Texas. We will trade games. The hints were definitely helpful.
Vicki S.
This game is not for first-timers! We have played a lot of Exit games, but this was harder! A lot more thought went into it, but it was a lot of fun— and I think we only needed one clue! Truly entertaining for us and our adult children. We tried to play over zoom with more family, but that was harder because they were only working with our materials— we could have bought two sets to make it more fun! Definitely a two night adventure!
Tanya W.
We played as a family, 3 adult kids and had a great time. It was definitely challenging and a lot of fun! Everyone had input on all the puzzles and each one would see it a different way so could contribute ideas. I am sure we will order more of these puzzles. Great family challenge!
Melissa R.
Great fun! Lots of different types of puzzles. Only had to ask formal clue on the very last puzzles
Anneliese S.
This was a fun family activity! We played this over 2 nights, solving Part 1 the first night, then Part 2 the second night. Part 2 took quite a bit longer, and was pleasantly challenging--these are not "easy" puzzles. We are a pretty competitive bunch, and it was great to have everyone working together to solve a puzzle rather than trying to "win" a game. We'll definitely be doing this again!
Janet A.
One of the puzzles we would have never gotten without looking it up. The rest took time, but we had fun. There were 4 of us playing. We liked it so much I ordered the second one the same night we played and finished Blackbrim.
Greg B.
This was a gift for my daughter who absolutely loved it!! She enjoys sleuthing games and is a huge fan of the 1800’s so this was perfect. I believe she even ordered the next one already.
Roger F.
Blackbrim was a lot of fun for us. We found it to be somewhat more difficult than other "in home escape" puzzles, but that is not a bad thing! Looking forward to La Famiglia.
Todd W.
We actually sat together for 4 hours!
It was great!
Karen W.
I ordered these as Christmas presents including myself. It is a great puzzle! A bit challenging but it was loved by all!
Cynthia R.
Kudos to the people designing this game. Quite the imagination to come up with these problems. That being said it was a little more difficult than I had thought it was going to be. Now we are fairly intelligent people but we did have to use clues quite often in order to finish the game. Definitely more for the older kids and adults, in my opinion. I guess I was looking for it to be more of a fun thing for Christmas afternoon but with the difficulty, we lost a few players, as they just lost interest. The stubborn die-hards were determined to see it thru. Maybe after doing one, we would have better luck with a second one.
Felicia C.
We had a family Christmas night and all worked together to solve the mystery.
It was a lot of fun!
Una S.
We found the game to be very challenging and entertaining.
steve a.
Right up our alley! The puzzles were clever and challenging. We made it a family night and decided to solve the first part which took us about 2 hours. It was so much fun we just couldn't wait and went ahead with soling the second part. Another 2 hours well spent! Can't wait for the next challenge! Whoever designed this game; Well Done!
Heather L.
Amazing at home experience! Other products like this are too expensive and require subscriptions, this was a perfect one-game set up at a great price. SO many items came with it and it was so high quality. And the way it’s set up lets you do it over time, so you don’t have to do it all in one night which I loved. 10/10!
Julie G.
We had a great time. It was definitely challenging st times and we had to use a few clues . It took 6 of us about 4 hours to complete both parts. We were having so much fun after part one that we continued to play. We're already planning to find another game just as good! I definitely recommend playing on a family game night!
James Y.
My family (with two younger kids) enjoyed this game thoroughly. We can't wait for the next one!
Charity B.
Perfect combination of puzzles and detecting. Challenging, but not impossible. I've done a variety of these types of boxes and this was hands down the best. Please do more.
jo c.
We did it as a family of 9, had a blast
sonya i.
We had a lot of fun playing this. It took about 3 hours for my son and I to finish. It was a great game night. I've tried Exit games and didn't like the way they were set up using cards. This game was much more user friendly and I wish there were more like it.
Kathleen T.
Had a really great time playing this game with our family. We solved it in a few hours and we all played a part in solving the riddles. There were a variety of puzzles to solve making it fun for everyone. Looking forward to future puzzles.
Bonnie L.
I sent one each to my grandchildren, ages 22, 19, and 18 and they loved it. Found it challenging, but not frustrating. They did it with roommates and said it was great fun! P,ease let me know if you create more like this.
Donald L.
Some of the clues we needed the assistance of the web page.
Christina L.
Everything about this experience was fantastic! The kit arrived early and was clearly marked with instructions for how to get started with the mystery. The website provided helpful clues/ways to check answers and the quality of the printed components was excellent.
Can't wait for the next installment!
Terrasa U.
My partner and I enjoyed solving the mysteries of Blackbrim: 1876 while at our game table by the fireplace, sipping tea. The mood was perfect for such a mysterious narrative. We loved the materials and most importantly, to us at least, we enjoyed the puzzles and how they all came together; they were logical, tricky, connected to the story, and plentiful!
Aubrey D.
My sisters and I played together and really enjoyed it! We love escape rooms and this is a great at-home alternative.
Taylor H.
I bought this for me and my best friend to try and we both loved it! The puzzles were challenging but not too hard that we got frustrated and we loved the diversity of the puzzles as well! :) Very interested in the next puzzle box from you guys!
Jeremy T.
This was so fun. I’ve tried other boxed mystery games that are impossible to figure out. This was just the right amount of frustration and challenge. Can’t wait for the next one
Ron M.
This was one of the best date nights we've had. Looking forward to another mystery.
Greg M.
Really enjoyed it! Hoping you have another one soon?
Ryann S.
My brother and I had a lovely time playing this game over two days. We found that the mix of puzzle types really suited our individual strengths (though we were very thankful for the clues at different times.) We found that Blackbrim had a fairly minimal story line. Instead, each of the two parts had a small story lead up and then a number of puzzles containing very little narrative. Despite this, we enjoyed the game and seeing how the puzzles came together to form one massive result. We'd play again!
Niki Z.
Loving this game. Finished part 1 tonight! Fun and entertaining. Challenging but not hard or obscure. Please make more!!!
Rebecca B.
Great game! Can’t wait for the next!
Sandy B.
We enjoyed playing as a family.
Aimee K.
Really enjoyed it, especially part 2. Would like more of a mix of math and word puzzles.
James J W.
Great fun! An excellent mix of difficulty levels that respects the intelligence of the players. The game materials and packaging are beautifully designed and executed. Highly recommended for solo, couples or group play.
Tessa P.
Great gameplay with extremely detailed puzzles! When’s the next one coming out??
Rebekah W.
We payed this game over a weekend trip and had so much fun. Can’t wait to play the next one!
Tim N.
Interesting puzzles and clues some harder than others but a very enjoyable game.
Enrikson E.
Fun game! The puzzles are very well designed and conceived.
Leia D.
It was really great! Challenging at times but also very doable! The hints and ability to check your answers are an awesome feature. Highly recommend!
Theresa R.
Played it with another couple and everyone truly enjoyed it. Every person felt that they had contributed to the solution.
Kathy S.
We loved playing! Challenging puzzles and lots of laughter playing with friends
Sarah F.
We’ve been playing a lot of puzzle games like this over the last six months (Hunt a Killer’s stand alone, Unsolved Case files, Escape Room in a box, Deckscapes) and this is so far a favorite in our house. It took my husband and O 2.5 hours or so to get through both parts. Looking forward to new ones!
allison h.
We loved our first box and are so excited for next month. Puzzles are challenging but not impossible. Nice variety as well!
Kelli H.
We really loved the mix of puzzles, the difficulty level and the look/feel of the pieces.
Looking forward to the next set!
Evelyn H.
lol... I haven't finished!!! My grown children came for my birthday and we did finish part one. Unfortunately I have been forbidden to begin the second half without them! Now it seems I have to wait to rescue this poor group of kidnapped officers!!!
Dale S.
Fun for ourselves and the grandkids.
Anisa K.
My husband and I had a ton of fun with this. It was perfect for TWO at-home date nights!
Philip O.
We're hooked!! We spent a weekend playing Blackbrim, and the hours flew by... The hints system was really easy to use. The clues were really different and unique. There were some very cool puzzles, and overall we are looking forward to the next game release from Puzzling Pursuits!
Colin C.
We finished playing our first one, and all-in-all it took us about 4-5 hours. The puzzles are challenging and are a variety of them. Very well thought out, we are impressed. Worth the price especially for some quality family time!
Lisa B.
Love it, keep them coming!!
Holly P.
We've done dozens of real life escape room games, and we really enjoyed & appreciated the puzzles that were in Blackbrim: 1876. They were a bit different but challenging and fun, nonetheless.
Chris O.
Blackbrim had a ton of "aha!" moments that were really fun and exciting. There are many different levels of puzzles. Some are quick while others took us a lot more time. We did the game over a few nights so that we could be fresh, and we appreciated that we could pause and go back to the game whenever.
Francis H.
I've tried plenty of puzzle boxes, and this has been one of my favorites. Looking forward to future games
Jeffrey G.
Great fun that we can do at home.
Emily R.
Challenging but also do-able!
Miguel G.
My girlfriend and I did Blackbrim: 1876 and found it challenging and entertaining
Donna N.
Did it as a family. We are very experienced escape roomers. We loved the game. Some clues were a bit grueling, but overall it was great
Beth P.
Love love love! An awesome puzzle experience
Sarah R.
I loved doing this with my dad!! Some of them were fast to figure out, others took a few days... it was a great mix and an all around great time
Nicole W.
I loved this!!! I did this with my cousin, but I think it can be done with 1 person or a team of people. My cousin and I definitely plan to buy the next one.
Randy C.
Solved Blackbrim last week. Was an absolute blast!
Liam D.
My wife and I really enjoyed Blackbrim. My one critique is the fact that sometimes you have to google things for answers while other times the answers can be found in the game. All in all, it was really fun and definitely getting.
Cassie L.
We thought the puzzles were really great and very challenging, out of the gate it was a bit confusing. As we got into it, we got better. I would highly recommend if you're looking for challenging and unique puzzles.
Darci N.
A great story and we had a fun time playing! Some parts were a little hard and the hints were helpful in some ways, but one puzzle stumped us so much that we were still confused. Overall, I would recommend as a fun at-home thing to do!
Dennis E.
It was a love of fun. Box came a bit beat up, but everything was in it. definitely recommend.
Russ H.
We enjoyed it and are looking forward to the next game
Michael B.
We played over three nights and LOVED every minute of it! We can't wait to purchase from Puzzling Pursuits in the future. We loved the storyline! The puzzles were challenging but 'doable'... Well done!!!!!
Scarlet G.
My head hurt playing this... LOL. But I think that was the point! It was a lot of fun and felt very satisfying!!
Patrick T.
Fun Escape Room mechanics
Christine P.
The story was immersive and easy to follow
Christa S.
Y’all please keep creating these and you have a customer for life! Honestly, this is my dream of gaming!
Howard R.
Very fun!! A great activity when you don't just want to watch TV all day but actually want to feel productive
Grace W.
The puzzles were challenging but not obscure, the perfect balance. We can't wait for the next one!
Helen G.
Well designed games, very mind engaging, highly recommend
Ryan A.
We had a great time finishing the game over two weekends! We really enjoyed the twists in the game
Michael J.
Blackbrim was a very solid puzzle hunt with great clues and collateral. It was much more immersive with the photos etc that are all in theme with the story. Well done!!
Erik E.
I played solo, and it was a blast! I liked being able to work at my own pace, because I didn't want to use any hints
Oliver W.
I've been looking for an escape room type game I could do at home by myself, something more challenging than some other ones out there. I loved the clues and story, and I am excited to keep updated on their next release
Katherine R.
Great game!!! My partner and I were looking for something new to do, and Blackbrim kept us occupied the entire weekend! Now our friends are doing it because we told them about it!!
Angela L.
The puzzles were varied and original and separating the game into two chapter with different formats worked very well
