Examine the note to the right of the wax tablet. Below the words “Caesar’s shift = 3”, you see a coded phrase being translated into a message. Can you think of a way that the coded phrase "EH UHDGB" might translate into the decoded message "BE READY"? “Shift 3” may point you in the right direction.

The coded phrase on the paper is formatted the same way as the decoded phrase on the paper: two letters, followed by a space, and then five more letters. It’s likely that each letter in the coded phrase translates directly to a letter in the decoded phrase.

How might E translate to B? How might H translate to E? Try thinking about how these letters relate to one another in the alphabet.

How far apart are B and E in the alphabet? How about E and H? Can you now decode the wax tablet?

Shifting each letter on the wax tablet back by 3 letters in the alphabet yields the phrase: “THE DIE IS CAST”, the solution to the puzzle. Enter this solution to discover the conclusion to the puzzle, as well as some fun info about the puzzle story and mechanic.
