A beautifully and cleverly crafted game that was extremely fun to play. The companion website is a great way to check your progress and get hints without seeing any spoilers.

What fun!!! My family bought this for me a year ago for Christmas! Our youngest is now almost 12, so I pulled it out over break for us to play. We worked on a clue or two at a time over the course of the week (on and off). The youngest got a little frustrated because she wanted to get straight to the answers so she bailed on the last few clues but the 18 year old stuck it out. Maybe she will be a bit more patient when we get the next one?!? I love spending the time with my family and seeing how each of us thinks differently about how to approach the clues (though 18 and I were often on the same wavelength when Dad was going down a different road). All of those paths helped us reach the end!
B E.
Spent an entire day and it frustrated and exhilarated us equally. Great game.
Rachel
Super fun! Challenging puzzles that weren’t too hard. Looking forward to the sequel.
Kate S.
Fun exciting challenging experience trying to decipher the puzzles.
I would play another.
raegar
Without clues and the internet would be impossible. Made some copies of stuff so that someone else could play, (spelling bee, napkin, floor pan), very challenging, engaging.
Aubrey D.
Great job that was super fun and creative! We should have a little celebratory video or something at the end tho lol. Or a letter where we can check the solution at the end with congratulations as long as it’s not easy to open accidentally. Either way it was good work and fun. Glad it wasn’t too easy!
Cheri D.
We played as four adults, ranging from 55-66 on New Years Day. We completed both Part I and Part II in about 5 hours altogether. We had a blast! Sometimes we worked together, and sometimes we divided and conquered. Thanks for having clues online. We tried not to need them, but we definitely appreciated them.
Kristin
Incredibly cool, and quite challenging. The design of this game is fantastic!
Peggy A.
Fun times! Little rough having figured out some of the solutions but not knowing where to take it next. Great having clues and solutions available for double checking and leading where to go next.
Susan D.
Variety of puzzles and well thought out.
Michael H.
The game was very challenging. Some of the puzzles we wouldn't have solved without the extra clues.
It definitely was a fun experience.
ALEKSANDRA W.
We did this on new Years Eve with my husband and his parents. It was great fun! It took us 5 hrs to solve and we loved every minute of it. Everyone was super into it!
Crystal B.
Mind boggling. Common sense is not very useful as you have to think outside the box. It was fun. Brought us together to work together. We did have to get hints often. The only criticism is that when we did have the answer it was a bit anti- climatic as we didn't know what to do with it. Maybe a little more prompts as to what to do next. There were times we weren't sure if we were to just move on or something else was to be done with the current puzzle. But it was fun. We have another so we will comment further
Paul S.
Challenging but not too difficult
Kristen M.
Wide range of difficulty in the puzzles. Some of the leaps were impossible without clues, so make sure you have internet access.
Levi M.
I got this for my wife for Christmas. We had a blast doing this. We had food, drinks, and eerie Victorian music playing while we did and it made for a immersive experience. Highly recommend this for couples nights.
Debra S.
The game is a Christmas gift so I can’t comment specifically on it yet but I can tell you that customer service has been excellent. My order was lost and the company replaced it quickly and very kindly. Thank you.
Sean J.
Great game for a family night! The game was put together very well!
April H.
This was such a fun little adventure. Did it as a stay-home date-night and it was a delight to work on the puzzles together.
Zack
What a great series of diverse and well-thought out puzzles! It took two of us four hours, possibly more, to figure everything out. We only used a couple of the hints total. We were pleasantly surprised at the variety of puzzle types throughout the adventure and are so pleased that we already have the sequel to dive into!
Megan P.
This was the best birthday present! My sister gave it to me and we waited until Thanksgiving in order to spend time and do it together. The puzzles were challenging but we were always able to get them without dipping into the extra clues. We loved that we were able to spread it out over a couple of days and it provided for two sessions of fun! Excellent present, excellent fun!
Skyler L.
We loved the variety of puzzles! Our word puzzle lovers, cipher crackers, world travelers and art aficionados all had their time to shine.
Elizabeth B.
Great game, and your hint system is fantastic!
Jennifer Y.
This was great - would use this company again
Wendy P.
Great mix of puzzle types and difficulty levels. Really fun for family game night
Cara T.
Loved Blackbrim: 1876! So many fun puzzles. Highly recommend for novice and experienced players.
Caity C.
Witty and challenging!
Nikita G.
As avid escape room players this was definitely one of the best at home options available. The puzzles had a nice story flow to them and the puzzles were challenging without being frustrating. The hint system provided was very beneficial at times, not unlike a game master. We look forward to playing the second box in this series.
Linda S.
It was the right amount of difficulty and a great story line. Easy to follow and understand. I loved the quality of the materials used.
Roger S.
Really enjoyed the cerebral experience. I took this to work and used it as a team building exercise. Critical thinking skills are important in our line of work and this fit the bill for bringing the team closer together and improving . Thanks a bunch!
DJG & RKG
Part One was the most difficult because we had no idea what we were doing. The clues became more creative but all relied heavily on word games - not that that’s bad. But it was a a pleasant change (aka relief) to play with numbers and paper folding. It definitely did not take 2-4hrs for us inexperienced game players of this genre. Looking forward to Reager’s Return.
Julia B.
This is was very fun and intellectually stimulating. We really appreciated it being in two parts so we could play it over to separate weekends. Definitely read the little guidebook before you start.
Jean
The kitchen was the worst! Thank you for clues - would have died in that room, for sure. Fun and provoking game.
Justin L.
Still nibbling away at this game. I want the fun to last. Kind of like a jigsaw puzzle, a few pieces at a time.
Marlene D.
Bought this game for a party with 10-12 people...it was great having everyone work together to work out the clues at our own pace. We're getting everyone together again to play Reager's Return!
Khat B.
My brother and I loved this game! It does require a lot of thought and brainstorming, because some of the puzzles provide little feedback as how to solve them.
Try not to get too frustrated, because the challenge is worth it! Thank you creators!
Megan B.
Gave the game to my brother as a gift for his birthday. We played that night and had a blast! So much fun! Will be getting more!
Chasity W.
We tried to embrace the timeframe. We shut off all lights, lit candelabras, used feather 'quill' pens. We had a fancy dinner with wine and all the fixins as we started. We played symphonies from the period. Really enjoyed ourselves! I like the mix of easy and hard puzzles. So rewarding! The companion site for help is just enough! Thank you! We will definitely be telling everyone and continuing our journey with Reager!
Susan G.
Bought for my brother who really loves this type of challenge. Just looking at the back of the box, this is right up his alley!
Elisabeth W.
Have only finished part 1 and love it!! Thankful for the on line clues!!!
Can't wait to start part 2!!
Derek B.
This was legitimately amazing! Definitely more difficult than some other puzzle-type games we’ve tried before but that makes the thrill of inspiration so much sweeter! Excited for the sequel!
Jon B.
Just the right amount of WTF? And aha! moments.
Really fun and uses everyone's different skills - we're not experts at these things, but we've done some, and this was far and away the best balanced and most fun!
kiersten d.
This was great! It took us 2 nights but so fun!
Susan C.
Played with family via Discord. Fun 2 days
Brittany M.
I loved this! It was really quite challenging but I kind of feel like it gave me a better grasp of maybe what to expect on the other games. I had to use the hints quite a bit but when I didn't have to and I got the correct answer it was a great victory! I definitely recommend and it's actually quite fun to do on your own. A little something to break up the monotony of television or when a book just doesn't hold your attention. Plus, it probably will help keep my mind sharp to do these puzzles. I definitely would recommend and I'll be going back for the others plus checking out some other puzzles from other sites. Keep adding to the product line and I'll keep returning!
Cortney M.
Great for wordy- math nerds. Even the cat joined in
Sean H.
Great way to spend a game night!
Adal R.
Such a wonderful at home puzzle! The perfect level of difficulty and some wonderfully clever and delightful games within! Purchase this fantastic game, have a few friends over to flex your brain power and work together to chase that 'I GOT IT!' feeling of solving a puzzle. My fiance and I had a blast!
David R.
My wife and I had a lovely time with Blackbrim:1876. The fact it was split into two 'episodes' was wonderful because we got two date nights out of it. There was a variety of puzzles so we had a chance to shine despite having different strengths. It was well packaged and enjoyable and the clues were the perfect amount of information when we needed a little assistance. I look forward to doing La Famiglia and then the sequels to both. Thank you for an excellent time!
Jennifer H.
Really fun as a solo game
Greg K.
Love the story and the game play! Played with a group of 3 and we can’t stop thinking about the game and waiting to continue the journey (we bought the other 3 right after the first puzzle) hope your company will make more of these games!
Greg K.
What a fun game night idea with friends. We loved all the different puzzle types and beautiful presentation. It truly has something for everyone! Can't wait to play the sequel.
Kelly V.
Loved it! Plan on getting the second one.
Edward A.
I really enjoyed how straightforward the game was, and the level of puzzle solving was very good. I wanted more story and expected it to show up in the app in some way. Additional story, etc. Admittedly, we didn't' ask for hints, and our answers were correct, but I'd have felt more engaged if there was something in the middle of our detective work that added context to our story. We'll do section two in the next few weeks.
Jacob H.
Sat down and played it with the wife. We needed some hints to get us going but after a while it worked out pretty well
Nathan S.
Great game. Totally different, and pleasantly challenging.
Maddie
Some puzzles were challenging, but it’s a great experience. Very well made. Lots of fun for game night. Took us about 5 hours total.
Abby K.
My husband and I love brain teasers, escape rooms, and mystery. This provided us hours of entertainment and conversation. We loved how each piece could be solved on its own if you had multiple people working on it at once. The artwork and attention to detail is lovely. We will get more of these.
Kate
Puzzles were challenging and fun. Lots of opportunities to collaborate, where one person has an idea and another person can build off that idea.
Jonathan A.
Challenging but a little anticlimactic. Maybe a little more variety in the type of puzzles. Overall a very good experience. Where’s the boss battle!!
Rainald G.
Companion app was needed but was very fun after
Kate S.
We did this over two nights (two people) and we had a wonderful time. The puzzles were challenging (did need some hints) but such fun and sharing the load was great. The story was engaging, the evidence pieces high quality, and the website was so easy to use. Thank you for this fun!
CJ E.
Fantastic game. This was very fun.
Rosemary M.
Played this game alone & really enjoyed it. Altho puzzle #6 (kitchen) was quite difficult for me, as i am not good with word problems nor math. I purched Reagers Return when i purchased this puzzle & i look fwd to doing it as well
BARRY B.
Believe the hype. We (parents and our 18 year old daughter) spent four quality hours (over two night) playing this. It’s well made and thoughtfully done. It’s a 10 out of 10.
Melyssa
Some of the puzzles were easy, some were hard, and some took some work, and an eventual "aha!" moment. Really glad to have access to the clues & hints, too. We had a great time!
Vicki L.
We had a wonderful time. We are looking forward to our next Puzzling Pursuits evening.
Witney B.
Our cat detective helped us along the way. He was a calming purrresence when we were at the end of our ropes. This game was so fun! Thank you for making it! :)
Angela
We did it over several days in the month. Some puzzles were challenging, but we only used a clue one time and we were annoyed that we did because we could have figured it out. We did copy everything so that we can pass the game to our son. Thanks for the entertainment.
Christine L.
I played alone and spent an afternoon with some wine finishing it up. I needed to check the hints to make sure I was on track. I'm not a math person but was so proud of myself for nailing the numbers puzzle! It wasn't too hard or absurdly easy, just a fun series of puzzles with an interesting, cohesive story. Thanks so much!
Dave M.
Puzzles were more difficult than we thought, we found we had to use the clues for several of the puzzles in part 1
Max B.
Fun escape room-like puzzles, which are satisfying to solve, although sometimes rather simplistic. Not as immersive as other mystery solving games, but still an enjoyable way to spend an afternoon or evening.
Sharon C.
Very challenging puzzles, but a blast to work out. My group of four greatly enjoyed it.
Alec S.
Fantastic customer service, thanks guys!
L P.
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed solving the puzzles together. What a fun experience! Looking forward to Reager’s Return!
Lucinda B.
We didn’t know we needed to follow our puzzle solution online.
You can’t unlock the game and story without staying online, and that needs to be clear.
Looking forward to the next game, though!
Deborah D.
We received it as a gift and loved the challenge
Elizabeth K.
My husband and I did this just for fun and really enjoyed it. Was challenging in all the right ways! Please do more!
Stephanie A.
I got this mom for my mom for her birthday and she loved it! This is our first game of this set up and it wasn’t bad at all. Took us 7 hours to play lol but with the hints we were at least able to finish. It was very well set up, the quality of the game was awesome and the story line had us hooked all 7 hours. Definitely buying the sequel soon!
Gina F.
My sister and I did this together on a weekend. It took us about 4.5 hours to finish. We loved every minute. The puzzles were just difficult to be challenging but we were able to eventually solve them. We had so much fun, we are ordering the sequel. I highly recommend the game.
Bryna C.
We truly enjoyed working through each of the puzzles in our group of eight! It works really well to split up with each puzzle and figure it out between two people! Both parts took us roughly two hours.
We're definitely going to buy the other puzzles!
Lynne G.
Loved the challenge! The supplies are well put together, and the puzzles are clever and fun to solve. We like the online clues because you can get small hints to help you just enough. We had such a good time!
Joshua T.
What a great puzzle experience!
Giuliana P.
I gave this to my husband to do after he had surgery and was laid up in bed for a few days. He did it on his own and spent the WHOLE DAY doing it. He was so obsessed and when I would go in he would just show me all of the cool little details. I am getting him the next one for Valentines day.

It was challenging and did have to use the companion which was helpful at giving me a nudge in the correct direction
T C.
So fun! Kept my daughter and I engaged for hours over several days. We started at Christmas and finished mid January. Very challenging. We needed to use some clues- which don't really give anything away. We still felt very smart for figuring things out. We will for sure buy another one! We started with 4 people and they dropped out. Easier for us with just two opinions. Trying to decide if we should buy the sequel or a totally different one.
Jen S.
Absolutely loved solving these puzzles! It was very challenging and I will admit to using some of the clues to get through the game. Only thing that sucks is that once your done you can’t really go back and play it again. Truly hope they are coming out with more games. Already purchased part 2. And will be getting the other puzzles as well. Great job puzzling pursuits! Please make more games, truly worth it.
Rebecca L.
We opened the box and read through every scrap inside before starting to puzzle. We solved the first puzzle, the photos and took a break. We want to prolong the experience.
I love knowing online support is available. I love that you can check on your answer without getting any hint of a spoiler. I love knowing that help is accessible but a little bit inconvenient to get to, so that you must really want it to go after it.
Kevin P.
Had a great time with four of us all contributing towards finding the solution.
John T.
It was a lot of fun! Challenging but not so difficult that it got too frustrating.
Haley O.
Purchased this for a family vacation - lucky I did since we were stuck inside most days due to bad weather! Had a lot of fun with all of the clever puzzles and it was an exciting addition to our trip.
Diane D.
It took us 5 hours, but we had so much fun. We tried not to look at the clues, but in Part II, you at least have to look at the first clue to get started.
Madeleine W.
Challenging clues with helpful online hints and the ability to use online research added to the interest. Took about four hours to solve, it was an ideal activity over the winter break with three generations in the family participating. Will definitely purchase again for the next holiday season, might be a new tradition.
Michael R.
Great fun to play
Kandy C.
I bought this as a Christmas gift for my daughter and her husband. They played it on New Year's Eve with another couple. My daughter found it challenging and said the other couple really dug it because they do escape rooms. She said there was a lot of excitement when it was finally solved. Also she now uses the box it came in for her cross-stitching, she says it's a nice box.
Dana M.
It’s a beautiful game! The envelops and clues are really fun to look at. We were excited to play. A little disappointed that some of the puzzles are so obscure that you have to get hints to complete them. It gets discouraging if you have no clue what you even have to do to solve the puzzle. It made it so my kids got bored quickly. We’re almost done but wish we could have completed more without the hints.
